The current Time Machine contest features the following question:
What will the all-time box office rank for Annabelle Creation be on Sept. 20th?
Ahhhhhh. A Horror Movie. Things that go bump in the night. Scary.
I will offer my ideas, but to do your own research you should familiarize yourself with BoxOfficeMojo.com and, specifically, this chart—which gives you the all-time box office (worldwide gross) ranks for over 700 movies.
I amnot a scary movie fan, and most Horror movies do not appeal to a broad audience so do not do as well overall in the ratings.
Here are the Franchise Movies related to Annabelle: Creation:
372 The Conjuring 2 - June 10, 2016
505 Annabelle - October 3, 2014
376 The Conjuring - July 19, 2013
They are all part of a Wanner Brother New Line Productions franchise.
Of 8 similar movies these three rank the highest. And since it is a Prequel to Annabelle it should fall near these three. I think it will do better than Annabelle, just like Conjuring 2 did better than the original. But I do not think it will do as well as either Conjuring movie.
The release date for Annabelle: Creation is August 11. So on Monday (Tuesday here in Thailand) we should have some hard numbers to start with. But over the weekend I will be playing 400, 425, 450.
