Mining Primer
Lesson 1
Mining involves extraction of naturally occurring deposits of minerals/other materials from the earth. While the activity results in economic benefit, from extraction to the finished product, the steps are long and complicated. It also creates a negative environmental impact, both during the active phase and after the mine is closed. Hence, most nations have regulated to decrease the impact of mining.
